Description

This is a chest tomb for Richard Mailes, who died in 1785, located about 15 yards south-west of the south porch of the Church of St George. The tomb is made of sandstone ashlar and features a moulded base and capping, with a deeply incised border around the inscription panels. It is one of a group of three monuments situated to the south-west of the south porch, alongside the monuments for Mailes Junior and Wheeler.
