Description

Croose Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the 16th to 17th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and features brick and plaster infill, along with tiled roofs and a large stone stack with a brick shaft on the north side. The main range is aligned east to west and includes cross-wings at each end. The building has a cellar and two storeys.

The north elevation displays a 1:2:1 arrangement of windows, with glazing-bar casements in the gable fronts and two small one-light windows, one on either side of the central stack. There is a cross-passage entry located in a lean-to to the left of the stack. The frame consists of four panels high to the wall-plates and tie-beams. Although the north gables appear similar at first glance, they differ significantly in size; the earlier east gable is lower and has more regular members, featuring V-struts from the collars and angle-braces from the corner posts.
