Description
The Richard Mailes Junior monument is a pedestal tomb located about 10 yards south of the south-west corner of the south aisle of the Church of St George. It commemorates Richard Mailes Junior, who died in 1832. The monument is made of finely cut sandstone and features a moulded base and capping. The fluted frieze is decorated with paterae, and there are raised inscription panels with quadrant top-corners that support swirling leaves. This monument is part of a group of three monuments situated to the south-west of the south porch, which also includes the Mailes Senior and Wheeler monuments.
