Description

The barn and shelter shed, located about 50 yards south-west of Great Quebb Farmhouse, date from the 18th century and were altered in the mid-19th century. The structure is partly timber-framed with some brick infill and weatherboarding, and partly made of brick and rubble on a rubble base, topped with corrugated metal roofs. It likely consists of five framed bays oriented north-west to south-east, featuring a central wagon bay with opposing cart entries and ventilation slits in the brick walling.

Inside, the wall framing has three panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with long straight braces in the lower corners. There are intermediate tie-beam trusses with raking struts and two tiers of trenched purlins. The adjoining shelter shed to the north-west is made of rubble and has a corrugated metal roof. It has five bays that are open on the south-east side, supported by timber posts. The north-west end bay is blocked with boarded infill and includes a two-light window and a door. The interior features intermediate king-post trusses. The barn and shelter shed are prominently situated and are included for their group value with the nearby farmhouse and outbuilding.
