Description
The barn and shelter shed located to the south-east of Highway Farmhouse is a late 16th century structure featuring five bays in the barn and two bays in the shelter shed, which was added later. The barn has queen post roof trusses supported by through purlins and wind braces, with original rafters. The timber framework is closely set above and below the half rail. The exterior is weatherboarded and topped with an old tiled roof. On the north side of the barn, there are two porches, and the one-storey shelter shed extends north from the barn. The shelter shed dates from the late 17th century or early 18th century and is constructed with fairly stout timbers, also featuring queen post trusses, weatherboarding, and a tiled roof, comprising four bays.
