Description
This building is a barn and shelter shed, constructed in the 18th century with additions from the mid-19th century. It is made of brick and features both plain tiled and corrugated iron roofs. The structure consists of three bays arranged in a north-south orientation, with a central wagon bay that has opposing cart entries equipped with double doors. There are header ventilation courses present, and a door with a cambered head is located on the north-west side.
Inside, the roof is supported by intermediate collar and tie-beam trusses, which include two struts and two tiers of trenched purlins. The shelter shed, which is attached to the south end of the barn, dates from the 19th century and has two levels, featuring a detailed eaves cornice. It comprises four bays and is open to the east elevation, supported by three bullnosed brick piers. There is a blocked loft opening in the south gable end that contains six alighting ledges and pigeon holes above. Additionally, a lean-to addition with a catslide roof is attached to the west elevation. Together, the barn and shelter shed enclose the farmyard to the east.
