Description
Hill Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and mid-20th century. The building features a combination of timber-frame construction with brick infill and is partly built of brick, topped with a tiled roof. It has an H-plan layout, with the main section oriented east to west. The west cross-wing was added in the mid-20th century, while the central block, originally from the 17th century, was remodeled in the mid-19th century. The west cross-wing consists of two framed bays and has a lateral stack.
The house is one storey high with an attic, which is illuminated by casement windows in the gables of the cross-wings and three gabled dormers in the center. The window arrangement consists of two sets of two windows and a single light casement on the left, with the remaining windows being two- and three-light casements. There is a central gabled porch featuring a moulded architrave and a ledged door. The framing of the house includes three square panels high with straight angle braces, and the gables have two queen struts supporting the collar. Some of the original framing is still visible in the rear wall of the central part.
