Description

Wychbold Court is an early 17th-century farmhouse, with alterations from the early 19th century and 20th century. It is constructed with a timber-frame, incorporating painted brick and wattle-and-daub infill, and with some areas faced in painted sandstone. The roof is tiled. The house has a U-shaped plan, with timber-framed cross-wings and a main block faced in sandstone. It is two storeys high with a 1:2:1 window arrangement. The windows are 20th-century three-light casements. The projecting wings have angled bays on the ground floor, while the main part has a three-light casement to the left and a half-glazed door in an early 19th-century doorcase to the right. The timber framing of the left cross-wing features four square panels at a high level and curved tension braces. The gable has three queen struts to the collar and V-struts above. The right cross-wing has two square panels to the first floor, with close-studded panelling and a mid-rail on the ground floor. Its gable has two collars with queen struts and V-struts in the apex; much of the gable is painted and many timbers are missing. The framing is visible at the rear of the main block, which has four square panels at a high level. The interior was not inspected.
