Description
Bower Cottage is a house that likely dates from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th and mid-20th centuries. The building is timber-framed with rendered infill, some sandstone walling, and features corrugated iron cladding. It has a shingle roof with a brick stack located at the left end of the ridge. The structure consists of two framed bays that are aligned east to west and is a single storey with an attic that includes dormers.
The south front elevation has a ground floor that features a 2-light 19th-century casement window and a 3-light casement window. There are two gabled dormers, each with 2-light casements. A large central 20th-century glazed porch with a half-glazed door is also present. At the west end, there is a rubble lean-to outshut that has a ledged and battened door facing south. Additionally, there is a timber-framed lean-to outshut at the rear of the east bay.
