Description
Corduroy is a house dating from the mid-17th century, with alterations made in the mid-20th century. It features a timber frame with rendered infill set on a sandstone base, topped with a machine-tiled roof. The building consists of two framed bays oriented roughly east to west and has a large external rubble chimney with offsets, a detached brick stack, and a circular bread oven at the east end. It is a single storey with an attic that includes dormers.
The framing includes three rows of panels extending from the sill to the wall-plate, with a queen-post truss partially visible at the east end. The south front elevation has all 20th-century casement windows; the ground floor has two 3-light windows and two single-light windows, while there is a single-light window at eaves level and two large 20th-century gabled dormers with 3-light windows. The central entrance features a 20th-century door. At the rear, there is a lean-to rubble outshut.
