Description
Houghton Court is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with alterations and extensions made in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of coursed sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings, featuring slate and plain tiled roofs with brick stacks. The main range has three bays and is aligned roughly east to west, with a significant 19th-century refronting on the original part at the rear.
The farmhouse is two storeys high, and the main south elevation consists of three bays with end quoins. The windows have ashlar sills and are 19th-century casements, including two 3-light windows and a 4-light window with transoms on the ground floor, along with three first-floor 2-light windows. The main entrance, located to the right of center, features a flat stone canopy supported by shaped stone brackets and a 9-panelled door, of which the upper three panels are glazed.
At the rear, there is a large wing to the left, a small central stair wing, and an L-shaped wing to the right.
