Description
The Oak House is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and mid-20th century. It features a timber frame with painted brick infill, replacement walling, and plain tiled roofs. The house is likely composed of three framed bays arranged roughly north to south, with a central north wing, a shallow gabled south wing, and an external brick chimney at the east end with a detached stack. It has one storey and an attic with dormers. The framing is partly exposed at the rear and east end, showcasing a tie-beam truss with lattice struts in the south gable.
On the south front elevation, the ground floor includes a 4-light 20th-century window and two 3-light 19th-century windows with cambered heads. There is a gabled half-dormer featuring a 4-light oriel window, a gabled dormer with a 2-light casement, and a 3-light window beneath the gable. The main entrance, located to the right of centre, has a half-glazed gabled porch and a 20th-century door. Additionally, there is a 19th-century lean-to outshut at the east end, which has a single-light casement beneath a cambered head in its east elevation.
