Description
The cider mill, hay barn, tackroom, and workshop, located about 30 yards northeast of Bury of Hope Farmhouse, date from the mid-18th century. The structure is part timber-framed and weatherboarded, with sections of sandstone rubble and a corrugated metal roof. The cider mill is the central range, consisting of four bays aligned north to south and featuring two levels. The main elevation includes two ground floor windows, two loft openings, a doorway with a cambered head, and a large archway. Inside, there is one row of square panels at the eaves level, a tie-beam truss with latticed struts at the north end, and collar and tie-beam trusses with struts in other areas. The northern half contains a cider mill and press. The hay barn, likely comprising five framed bays, is attached to the north end of the cider mill. The second bay from the mill is open for access, while the fourth bay features a wagon bay with opposed cart entries and double doors. The interior framing consists of three panels from the sill to the wall-plate, and the roof has collar and tie-beam trusses with struts. The tackroom and workshop are located at the south end of the mill, consisting of three bays and two levels. The west elevation has two ground floor windows, a loft opening, and two doorways. The interior of the tackroom and workshop has not been inspected.
