Description

HUMBER CP SO 55 SW 5/82 Cider mill and stable about 10 yards south- west of Lowbrook GV II Cider mill and stable. C17, altered mid-C19. Part timber-framed and weather- boarded on rubble base, part sandstone rubble with corrugated metal roof. Two bays aligned east/west; west bay is framed and contains cider mill, east bay is rubble and forms stable. Two levels. Main north elevation has two square openings, a doorway and a large double doorway. A lean-to rubble addition adjoins the south side and there is a lean-to timber-framed addition at the west end. Interior: the west bay has three rows of panels from sill to wall-plate and collar and tie-beam trusses with struts. Similar truss at east end has six struts beneath the collar (one strut replaced by a loft open- ing) and a V-strut above the collar. There is a cider mill and cider press in the west bay.
