Description

Humber Court is a farmhouse dating back to the 17th century, which was extended and given a new facade in the mid-19th century. It is constructed from sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings and a slate roof. The front range has gable-end parapets and end stacks; the left-hand stack has two diamond-shaped brick shafts, while the right-hand stack features a row of three combined star-shaped brick shafts. The rear range has a right-hand stack with a row of three original star-shaped brick shafts. The farmhouse has two storeys and three bays. The windows have ashlar surrounds and hoodmoulds, with grotesque head stops (now missing from the lower left window). These windows contain 16-pane sashes in the outer bays, and a first-floor 12-pane sash in the central bay. The central entrance has a moulded ashlar archway with a four-centred head, a four-panelled door with a transom light containing three glazing bars. The original section of the farmhouse contains some large ceiling beams.
