Description

Pear Tree Cottage is a 17th-century house located in Stoke Prior, with alterations made in the late 20th century. The house has a timber frame with painted brick infill between the timbers, built upon a tall rubble stone base, and is roofed with slate. It originally comprised two framed bays aligned north-west/south-east. A large external chimney made of rubble stone, featuring stone-tiled offsets and a brick stack, adjoins the rear north-east elevation. The house is two storeys high. The timber framing is characterised by three rows of rectangular panels from the sills to the wall plate, and tie-beam trusses with decorative lattice struts are visible at the gable ends. The windows are 20th-century casements; two 3-light windows are on the ground floor of the south-west front elevation. The main entrance, a partly-glazed 20th-century door, is located at the north-west gable end.
