Description
The stable and adjoining cider mill, located approximately 20 metres south of Walsopthorne Farmhouse, dates from the late 17th century or early 18th century for the stable and the early 19th century for the cider mill. The stable is timber-framed with part weatherboard cladding and slatted infill, featuring a sandstone plinth and a corrugated iron roof. It consists of two framed bays aligned east to west, with the cider mill attached to the west and facing north. The stable is two storeys high with a loft above and has a ledged doorway located to the right of centre. The framing includes four square panels from the sill to the wall-plate, and although the roof is inaccessible from the interior, it has two tiers of purlins and possibly lozenge framing in the gables. The cider mill is a single storey structure with a cart entry at the west end of the north front. Inside, it contains an intact cider mill and press.
