Description
Stock Tree Cottage is a house dating from the mid- to late 17th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. The building features a combination of timber framing with rendered infill and sandstone rubble, topped with a slate roof. It has two framed bays that are aligned north to south, and a large external sandstone chimney at the south end, along with a large rubble stack and a smaller external brick chimney from the 19th century at the north end. The cottage is single storey with an attic. The framing includes one row of square panels at the eaves level, with short straight braces at the outer lower corners of the outer panels.
On the east front elevation, there are two ground floor 2-light 19th-century casement windows, a central entrance with a lean-to canopy supported by metal brackets, and a half-glazed door. There are also attic lights in the gable ends, and a rubble lean-to outshut at the rear.
