Description

The ciderhouse and stable, located about 25 yards north-north-west of Bolstone Court, is likely from the 18th century, with an early 19th-century extension. It is constructed of sandstone rubble and brick, topped with a hipped tiled roof. The building has a rectangular plan consisting of five bays plus three bays, oriented north-north-west to south-south-east. It has two levels.

The west elevation features a brick section on the left, which is obscured by a mid-20th-century steel lean-to. The right section, made of sandstone rubble, has brick heads above segmental openings. On the first floor, there are two pairs of openings, each with two lights and oak diamond section mullions, with a ledged loft door in between. The ground floor has two similar mullioned openings flanking a stable door, with a ledged door at the center near the junction with the brick extension.

Inside, the building contains a nearly complete cider mill, featuring an oak rim approximately ten feet in diameter, along with a cider press whose screws extend into the upper floor. The trusses in the southern sandstone section have raking struts, while the three-bay brick section has strapped king-posts that support raking struts and ties, also with raking struts.
