Description

HOLME LACY CP - SO 53 SE 6/41 The Old Schoolhouse 17.12.81 - II Schoolhouse, now house. Late C18 or early C19 with later alterations. Sandstone rubble, sandstone ashlar and brick. Stone slate roof hipped to rear and brick stacks. Rectangular plan aligned roughly east/west with polygonal projection at west end. Two storeys. East elevation has wrought iron central casement with two lights and fanlight under dressed round arch to first floor. Ground floor has similar arch with late C20 door incorporating glazed semi-circular head. Attached to left return wall, which is brick, is a mid- or late C19 lean-to with weatherboarded front. North elevation has round- headed openings with casements like the entrance front and advanced keystones, two on the first floor and three on the ground floor. West elevation is ashlar. Parapet, three canted round-headed windows to first floor of polygonal projection and central ledged door with round arch.
