Description

The Farmyard Range at the Warrage is a collection of farm buildings that form a continuous structure. The buildings are primarily made of rubble stone with a slate roof over the cider mill, while the other sections are covered in corrugated iron. The range consists of three sections with roofs that have progressively shallower pitches. At the southern end is a short cider mill, followed by a five-bay barn, which is the oldest part of the range. The northern section is of similar length to the barn and shows clear evidence of being built in two phases, later raised to the same height as the barn in a third phase.

The rear of the barn features quoins on the left that are similar to those on the house. The quoins on the right, where the barn joins the cider mill, are disturbed, but the interior indicates that the cider mill was an addition. The front of the barn has two vent loops on either side of central full-height barn doors, and the rear wall facing the road is similar. The cider mill fills the space between the barn and the back of the house, featuring a boarded door and one window on the left.

The northern end of the range consists of two parts under a single roof. To the left is a two-bay lofted cowhouse that has some dressed stone quoins and red brick cambered heads over the ground floor openings. Beyond this is an added section that was raised in the late 19th century, evident from the horizontal line in the stonework and the brick quoins marking the new work. The front of this section has three-light windows in the loft and a two-light window in the end gable, which also has stone quoins. There is a vent loop below. The rear of the northern range shows clear structural divisions, with the cowhouse having quoins only on the left, a window on the extreme right, and a central loft window in the added wall above. The end range has a vent loop and one small window on the ground floor to the left.

The barn has a lowered roof pitch and vent loops on the southern wall, indicating that the cider mill was added at that end. The cider mill still contains two cider presses, one of which is older than the other.
