Description
This is a barn with an attached former cider mill, built with roughly-coursed rubble walls. It features a red clay pantile roof, which has a stone slate eaves course on the front slope and corrugated sheet roofing on the rear slope. The barn consists of four structural bays aligned on a north-south axis, with the cider mill occupying one bay at the northern end and having a slightly lower roof.
On the west front of the barn, there is a full-height wagon doorway in the third bay, opposite another doorway at the rear. To the right of this doorway, there is a segmental-headed doorway, followed by a small window and a slit breather above. The first and second bays each contain a small slit breather. A flight of stone steps on the left end leads up to a loft doorway at the junction of the cider mill and the barn, with a segmental-headed doorway to the former mill located to the left of the steps. The rear of the barn range is obscured by modern farm buildings.
Inside, the barn features three pegged softwood collar trusses with raked struts, supporting two tiers of trenched purlins. The floor of the cider mill still shows the circular paving from a former horse-mill.
