Description
Glanau Farm is a building constructed from roughly-coursed sandstone rubble, topped with a blue slate roof and featuring red brick gable chimneys. It is positioned at right angles to the hill's contours, with its right-hand end at ground level enclosed by higher ground, resembling a landslip. The house presents a tall, symmetrical, 2½-storey facade on the south side, which has three windows and is characterized by a pair of gabled dormers in the roof and full-height lean-tos at both ends.
The ground floor includes a segmental-headed doorway with a board door, flanked by two rectangular small-paned 2-light casement windows. On the first floor, there are three similar windows, and the dormers feature 2-light casements with 4-pane glazing. The left (southwest) gable has an unusually large lean-to that reaches eaves level and appears to be structurally integrated with the main building; in front of this lean-to, there is a small 20th-century brick-built lean-to. On the right-hand (northeast) gable, which is at a much higher ground level, there is another lean-to that extends above the eaves of the main range and includes a slit-breather in its front wall.
At the rear, there is a square full-height stair-turret with a pyramid roof located centrally, and projecting from the east angle of this turret is a 2-storey cellar wing with a hipped roof. This wing features a modernized doorway in its end wall and a 2-light casement window above it. The building has not been inspected.
