Description
Yard House is a two-storey gabled building constructed of rubble sandstone with limestone dressings and chimneys, topped with a slate roof. It features end chimneys and a lean-to on the west gable. The north elevation has two bays with tall windows that have segmental arches. The left window on the upper floor is a small-paned timber sash, consisting of three panes by three. On the ground floor, there is a later sash window with marginal glazing bars, measuring three panes by two. In the centre of the ground floor, two small casement windows illuminate the stairs from a single opening. The south elevation has a similar window pattern, but includes two doors at the centre; one used to lead to the office and the other to the manager's house. The lean-to on the west has been partially rebuilt, with the stone section originally serving as a stable, while the brick section replaced the weighbridge house, which was located in the track outside.
