Description

Pont-y-Yard is a bridge constructed from rubble stone, featuring a single very high arch that spans a river. The arch is adorned with grey cut stone voussoirs. The spandrels of the bridge have small pierced holes, also made with grey stone voussoirs. There is a projecting course beneath the rubble parapets, which have stone coping, although some of this has been replaced with concrete. The splayed abutments have been mostly rebuilt in the 20th century, using concrete for both northern end splays and red brick for the southeast splay.
