Description

This barn, located about 5 yards west of Plough Farmhouse, dates from the 17th century and has mid-19th century alterations. It was originally used as a cider mill and is now a store. The barn is timber-framed on a rubble base and is weatherboarded with a corrugated metal roof. It consists of three framed bays oriented east to west, featuring a central wagon bay with opposing cart entries, which are now blocked, and a small double doorway has been inserted to the south. The framing includes three panels from the sill to the wall-plate, collar and tie-beam trusses with struts at the ends, and two intermediate tie-beam trusses with raking struts. In the western bay, part of the cider mill remains, although a section of the trough is missing.
