Description
Brick House is a house that underwent early 18th century remodelling of a 17th century or earlier structure, with mid- to late 19th century and late 20th century alterations and additions. It is refaced in handmade brick and features a slate roof with a brick stack at the left end of the ridge. The building has three storeys and a cellar, with a three-course band at the first floor level of the front elevation. It consists of four bays. The windows on the ground and first floors are wooden cross-casements, although some have been replaced with later copies. The windows in the second bay of the ground floor and the outer bays of the first floor have cambered heads. The outer bays of the ground floor have been replaced by 19th century hipped-roofed canted bay windows. On the second floor, there are three 2-light casements with cambered heads. The main entrance, located in the third bay, features a flat canopy on shaped brackets, a 20th century door with six panels, and a transom light with a central glazing bar. At the rear, there is a 20th century lean-to addition. The interior is noted to contain a 17th century overmantel with three bays of enriched arcaded panelling.
