Description

Rock Cottage is a mid-17th century house with alterations from the mid-19th century. It is timber-framed with rendered infill, built upon a tall base of rendered rubble, with some roughcast rubble walling and a plain tiled roof. The house has two framed bays aligned north/south, and includes a cellar. The west front elevation features four panels of framing from sill to wall-plate, with short straight braces in the upper corners. The windows are all 2-light casements. An oriel window with a lean-to roof is positioned in the left bay at first floor level, and a ground floor window is located in the right bay. There are two further first floor windows, one in each bay. The main entrance is at the left and is sheltered by a lean-to porch supported by brackets, with a ledged and battened door and a moulded architrave. A cellar door is located beneath the right bay. The south gable end adjoins Oakley House.
