Description

The Court House is a building that has been divided into two dwellings. It dates from the early to mid-18th century, with some alterations made in the early to mid-19th century. The structure is made of handmade brick, sitting on a chamfered ashlar plinth at the front and a rubble plinth at the sides and rear. The slate roof, which was likely raised in the early to mid-19th century, features a brick ridge stack located to the right of the center and another at the left end.

The building has a rectangular four-bay lobby-entry plan and stands two storeys tall, with an attic that includes a rear dormer and a cellar. There is a moulded three-course string course between the main storeys at the front, along with three-course bands between the main storeys and at the former eaves level at the ends.

On the south-west front elevation, there are four bays, with windows that have cambered heads and alternate blue brick header details. All windows are 16-pane sashes with moulded architraves on the main storeys. A central lunette is located beneath the eaves, and there is a blocked opening to the cellar in the fourth bay. The main entrance is in the third bay, featuring a flat canopy supported by console brackets and a door with six flush panels. This entrance is accessed by a flight of three ashlar steps, which are accompanied by simple curved cast iron railings. The rear elevation includes a raking-top dormer and an altered original two-storey wing to the rear left.
