Description

The Methodist Chapel, dated 1865, is now converted into a dwelling. It features red brick construction with ashlar dressings and a slate roof, topped with a parapet that has kneelers and pyramidal finials at the west gable end. The building has a two-bay rectangular plan with the main entrance located at the west end. The west front includes an ashlar plinth and end quoins, along with an ashlar string course at the eaves level. There are two windows with two-centred arched heads, rusticated surrounds, and multi-paned sashes that have intersecting traceried glazing bars. The central doorway has a similar surround and arched head, featuring a pair of 20th-century double doors, with the glazed arched head also displaying intersecting traceried glazing bars. A rectangular datestone on two corbels within the pedimented gable is inscribed "PRIMITIVE METHODIST/ CHAPEL/ ERECTED 1865/ WE WORSHIP THEE O LORD." The side elevations have a brick plinth and two windows that match those on the front elevation. Additionally, there is a 20th-century kitchen wing attached to the rear gable end.
