Description
The gates and gate lodge to South Lodge are a pair of gate piers with gates and a pedestrian gate, accompanied by an additional pier to the right. They date from the mid- to late 19th century. The wooden decorative gates feature closed lower panels and two pairs of diagonal braces, with pierced lancet-shaped insertions in the upper part and a scalloped design above the top rail. The gates are flanked by solid timber posts that have chamfered corners and a sun emblem carved in relief on the upper half. There is a similar pedestrian gate and further pier to the right. This structure has group value with South Lodge.
