Description
Ye Hostelrie is an inn built around 1830, designed in the style of Edward Blore's Goodrich Court, which has since been demolished. The building features ashlar and coursed sandstone rubble with slate roofs and has an irregular plan consisting of two blocks. The north block is slightly lower and set forward, with a square turret that projects slightly at the angle. The entrances are located towards the center and the south of the north block, with 20th-century additions at the rear. The inn is designed in a picturesque Tudor-Gothic style and stands two storeys tall. Notable features include a decorative corbelled mock bell-cote on the north gable end, a pair of shouldered lights with square-headed surrounds, and a tall full-length traceried window with a gable flank central doorway that has a shouldered lintel. There is a second doorway to the right of the tall window, and the turret has a square broach spire with an adjoining pinnacle at the outer corner further to the right. The south block contains three pairs of similar windows, each with shouldered lintels in square-headed surrounds.
