Description
The Goodrich War Memorial, built in 1920, is a tribute constructed from brick and timber, topped with a plain clay tile roof. This three-sided structure features a pitched timber roof that provides shelter. The gabled roof has decorative barge boards with foliate carvings and a pendant at the apex.
On the back wall, there is a stone tablet commemorating those who served in the First World War, with a timber crucifix positioned above it. The inscription reads: "FOR GOD FOR KING FOR COUNTRY," and it lists the names of seventy-seven men who served and returned, along with the names of nine men who died.
The side walls display stone tablets for the Second World War, inscribed with the years "1939 – 1945." These tablets include the names of sixty-six men who served and returned, as well as the names of five men who died. The lettering is painted black, while the names of the deceased are highlighted in gold capital letters, accompanied by a cross.
Access to the memorial is via a flight of stone steps, flanked by rubble-stone walled terraces on either side.
