Description
This building is a barn and former coach house located about 45 yards north-west of Derndale. It dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century and is constructed of brick with a tiled and corrugated asbestos roof. The structure features nine plus three bays, aligned north-east to south-west, with the barn situated to the north-east and a two-level full-height stable extension to the south-west.
The south-east elevation has the barn centrally and on the right side, displaying two rows of alternating ventilation loops. There are two full-height segmentally-headed wagon entries, each with two-leaved ledged doors, positioned one bay in from the ends. The stables on the left have segmental-headed openings and ledged doors. The south-west gable features an insurance plaque and a weathervane at the apex. The wagon entry has a cambered head, and there are nesting ledges and holes above the loft opening, which is flanked by a pair of vent loops. Inside, the structure has simple-pegged king-post trusses that support raking struts to the principals.
