Description
The Nag's Head is a public house located in Canon Pyon, likely dating from the late 17th century to the 18th century, with some later alterations. It features a timber frame with brick and plaster infill and has been refronted in brick. The building has a hipped Welsh slate roof and brick stacks, with a rectangular plan oriented towards the main road to the southwest.
The southwest elevation has two early 19th-century, two-light casement windows with cambered heads. There is a mid-20th-century raking top dormer on the right-hand side. On the ground floor, there are a pair of early 20th-century canted bay windows with small glazing bars and hipped roofs. Flanking the bay windows are two ledged doors, both with flat canopies, while the right-hand doorway features a segmental head. Attached to the right side of the building is a lean-to with a curved front wall.
Inside, the ground floor has heavy ceiling beams, and the principal front room contains a stone fireplace with chamfered jambs.
