Description

Kinford Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates back to the 17th century, with later alterations. It is constructed from sandstone rubble and timber-frame with plaster infill, featuring tiled roofs and sandstone rubble end stacks. The building has an H-plan layout, with the main front facing southeast. It includes a cellar, two storeys, and an attic.

The southeast elevation has a symmetrical arrangement of windows, with three sets of one window each, and projecting gable fronts on the left and right sides. Both gables feature closely-set studding on the first floors and attics. The left gable has a two-light mid-20th century casement window in the attic, supported by V-struts. Each floor has a central glazing bar sash window, while the ground floor is made of finely coursed sandstone rubble. The right gable mirrors the left, with a similar attic casement window. The first floor features a three-light window with four-pane sashes, and the ground floor has three-light glazing bar casements set in rendered walling with ashlar lines. A moulded cill beam sits above the first floor window, with a tie supported by curved brackets adorned with acanthus decoration, rising from the corner posts. The center of the elevation includes a glazing bar sash window above a four-panelled door with a transom light. A corrugated iron and perspex canopy connects the two gables over the entrance.

The northwest elevation features two projecting gables and framing with four rectangular panels extending from the cill to the wall-plate. The interior was inaccessible during the resurvey in February 1987.
