Description

The Two Woodward memorials are a pair of chest tombs located approximately 1 meter north of the chancel of the Church of St Deinst. They date from the early 19th century and are made of ashlar stone. The tombs are set on a common plinth, featuring a moulded plinth and capping, with the western tomb having a hipped top. Fluted bands flank a lozenge-shaped inset that holds the inscription panel. Originally, the tombs were enclosed by a railing on a raised platform that has a moulded outer edge and is situated above a vault. The western tomb commemorates Robert Woodward of Treworgan, who died in 1830, while the inscription panel of the eastern tomb is illegible.
