Barn And Attached Store About 30 Yards North-West Of Shire Glat Farmhouse

The building is a barn and attached store, located about 30 yards north-west of Shire Glat Farmhouse. It is probably from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with some later alterations. The structure features a sandstone rubble plinth and a timber frame with brick and woven infill, topped with corrugated iron and Welsh slate roofs. The barn is rectangular and has five bays, aligned east to west, with the store located at the east end.

The north elevation of the barn has a deep plinth and a central entry with two-leaved ledged doors. The framing is square, three panels high, with woven infill in the top row of panels and cruciform vent openings in the nogging of the central panels. The store to the left has a minimal plinth and similar framing to the barn, but is considerably lower. It features a central loft opening and two ledged two-leaved doors. Inside the barn, there are trusses with triple angle struts. Shire Glat Farmhouse is not included in this listing.
