Description

This barn, located about 80 yards north of Lower Monkton, is likely from the 18th century. It is constructed of sandstone rubble and has a Welsh slate roof. The barn features seven structural bays that are aligned roughly east to west. The north elevation includes two rows of vent slits to the left of high central ledged doors that lead to the threshing floor. Inside, there are two types of trusses: one with triple angle struts and another with two posts extending from ties to collars, each supporting three purlins on the roof slopes.
