Description
This barn, located approximately 50 meters south of Monkery Farmhouse, dates from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and features some weatherboarding, topped with a plain-tile roof. The barn has a five-bay plan and includes central full-height doors, with a brick outshut to the left. The wall to the right of the entrance is timber framed and weatherboarded above half height. The roof is half-hipped to the right and has a blocked segmental arched opening. The rear wall, facing the road, has a small central door with a segmental arch and four slits. Inside, the roof features four clasped-purlin trusses with short, slightly curved principals that are strutted from the tie beam, along with curved braces springing from the wall posts.
