Description
Lower Monkton is a farmhouse that likely dates back to the 17th century, with later extensions. It is constructed of sandstone rubble and timber framing, finished with render, and features roofs made of Welsh slate and tiles, along with brick stacks. The building has a rectangular plan that runs roughly east to west, with small projecting wings at each end. It includes a cellar and two storeys.
On the north elevation, there is one window on the right side, featuring segmental heads. To the left of a roughly central entry, which is set in a gabled early 20th-century porch, there is a 3-light mid-19th century casement window. The right part of the building has horizontal sash windows on each floor to the left of a truncated front stack, and the roof is hipped to the right. The left wing has a gable front with some exposed studs, which are partially obscured by a single-storey mid-19th century extension.
