Description

Pitch Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with some alterations made in the mid-19th century and mid-20th century. It features a timber-frame structure with painted brick infill set on a painted brick base, topped with a slate roof. The building has an L-plan layout, with the main section oriented to the north and a subsidiary section to the east.

The west garden front is two storeys high with an attic, which is illuminated by two 20th-century gabled dormers. On the first floor, there are three windows: two 3-light casements and a 2-light casement to the right, all featuring plank weatherings. The central window retains one light with rectangular leaded quarries. The ground floor has two 3-light casements and a projecting porch to the right. The entrance features a ledged and boarded door located in the left-hand return wall of the porch.

The timber framing consists of three square panels high in the subsidiary range, while the other range has four square panels high to the first floor. The gable-end trusses are designed with two struts to the collar and V-struts at the apex. Inside, the farmhouse has exposed chamfered and stopped beams. In the subsidiary range, there is a doorway with a moulded frame and moulded battens on the door, which bears the inscription, "When you go to bed God send you good rest" on the lintel.
