Description
This shelter shed, located about 50 yards north-east of Handmore Farmhouse, dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century, with some later alterations. It is constructed from sandstone rubble and features a timber frame with weatherboarding and a corrugated asbestos roof. The building has a rectangular plan that is aligned north-north-west to south-south-east and consists of approximately eight bays. The west elevation has weatherboarding on the left side and a row of oak posts on the right. The east elevation mirrors this design but is reversed. Inside, there is a longitudinal rubble spine wall that supports racks and troughs on either side. This shelter shed is included for its group value, although Handmore Farmhouse itself is not part of this listing.
