Description

Clodock Mill is a mill and mill house dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century, with some late 19th-century alterations and minor changes from the 20th century. It is constructed of rendered sandstone rubble and has Welsh slate roofs. The building is arranged in an L-shape, with a main north/south wing, an east lateral water wheel, and an east/west wing that adjoins the house to the west. The house features a north projecting service wing at the east end, and there are two gable-end stacks along with an axial stack for the service wing.

The mill stands two storeys high with an attic. The north front includes a 2-light casement window in the gable, a small 2-light casement window, and a doorway on the first floor, along with another doorway on the ground floor. There is a square-headed doorway to the right in the east/west wing. The large iron water wheel, dated 1868 and made in Leominster, is located to the east. The house has an east return of the service wing on the right, featuring two 2-light casement windows and a similar window to the right of a ledged door on the ground floor.

Inside, the mill retains its machinery and has two stones. The mill ceased operations in 1952, but the house was still occupied by the former miller at the time of the resurvey in July 1985.
