Description
Mill Cottage is a house dating from around 1600, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and late 20th century. It features a timber-frame structure with brick infill set on a rubble plinth, topped by a slate roof. The building consists of two framed bays aligned north to south, with a rubble stack at the southern end that has a spiral staircase to the east. There was a former entrance on the west side, which is now blocked, and there is also a lateral stack on the west wall of the northern bay.
The west front of the cottage has two storeys. On the left side, there is a lateral stack, and to the right on the first floor, there is a two-light casement window. On the ground floor, there is another two-light casement window to the left and an entrance to the right, which features a ledged door. The framing is close-studded on both floors, and the north gable is also close-studded but lacks a collar. Inside, there are stopped and chamfered beams, and the ground floor, which was originally one room, has been divided by a mid-19th century brick wall.
