Description
Tan House is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th century and mid-19th century. The building features a combination of partially timber-framed sections, brick, and rubble, with a rough cast finish on the south gable and corrugated iron cladding on the west wall. It has three roof bays and a chimney stack located at the junction of two bays on the north side. There is a lower mid-19th century extension to the east, and the entrance is situated at the south end of the east front.
The east front is two storeys high and has two 2-light 19th century casement windows. On the ground floor, there is a 2-light 20th century casement window to the left of the entrance, and to the right is the 19th century extension. The south gable features two timber brackets supporting the wall-plates, and the east wall may be timber-framed. The most prominent feature of the house is the chimney stack, which has three diamond-shaped brick shafts. Inside, there are stopped and chamfered beams.
