Description
Prior's Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with extensions added in the 18th century. It features a timber-framed structure with wattle-and-daub infill, a sandstone plinth, and a corrugated metal roof. The building consists of two framed bays oriented east to west, with the 18th-century bay on the east and a single-storey service addition on the west. The entrance is centrally located in the original two bays, with an additional entrance in the later bay. There is a west gable-end stack. The cottage is single storey with an attic, which includes two dormers that have 3-light casement windows. On either side of a 20th-century gabled porch, there are similar 2-light windows. The porch features a ledged door, and there is another ledged door leading to the later bay. The framing of the cottage appears complete, with three square panels extending from the sill to the wall-plate, and bracing from the main post to the wall-plate, while the later bay has lighter scantling.
