Description
The Buildings is a hop farmhouse dating from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble with brick dressings and features a slate roof. The front elevation has three storeys, while the rear has two storeys and a gable-lit attic. Notable architectural details include a dentilled eaves cornice and two outer windows with segmental-headed glazing bar sashes, which are reduced in proportion on the second floor. The central arched doorway is obscured by a 20th-century lean-to. On the north side, there are two casement windows grouped towards the centre and right, along with another arched doorway and a simple fanlight. The building has two brick chimneys positioned longitudinally along the ridge, one to the left and one to the right of the centre. An attached lower two-storey wing on the east gable features irregular fenestration with approximately three casement windows on each floor and a loft door on the north side. This farmhouse is part of a complete early to mid-19th century hop farm complex.
