Description

Castle Pool Hotel is a mid-19th century house that has been converted into a hotel. The building is finished in stucco and features a hipped plain tile mansard roof, with stucco lateral stacks and a stack at the rear.

The exterior consists of three storeys and a six-window range, showcasing plain sashes with awnings set within shouldered moulded architraves. There is a decorated storey band and additional plain sashes with moulded architraves and corbelled sills. The central pairs of windows are flanked by pilasters with enriched capitals, and the corners of the building are accentuated with rusticated quoins. A frieze runs beneath a moulded and modillioned cornice.

The central entrance features a portico with part-glazed, panelled double doors and decorated lights beneath a moulded frieze supported by enriched columns. This entrance is flanked by pairs of plain sashes and has a cast-iron balcony above. The left side of the building has a returned storey band and eaves cornice, with an advanced bay that includes a tier of plain sashes, a balcony, and rusticated quoins. The right side has a tier of two plain sashes in an advanced bay, also with a returned storey band and rusticated quoins.

Inside, the hotel features an Empire staircase with turned balusters and decorative plasterwork, along with pilasters with fluted capitals in the hall. There is a dogleg staircase with ringed, turned balusters. On the first floor, there are four-panel doors with various architraves, a 19th-century marble corner fireplace, and coved ceilings with roses. The ground floor includes a coved and panelled room on the left front and a fireplace. The cellar has a four-panel door.
