Description
This is a house, built in the early 19th century in Hereford. It is located on the west side of St Ethelbert Street. The house is constructed of painted brick with a Welsh slate roof, and has brick stacks at the ends and rear. It is three storeys high, plus a cellar, and features a three-window front. The upper two floors have late 19th-century windows with six-over-six sashes, set within gauged brick flat arches. There are moulded brick eaves. The central right entrance has a six-panel door with a margin-glazed overlight, protected by a moulded wooden hood supported on fluted pilasters. To the left is a part-glazed four-panel door with a plain fanlight, set within a semicircular arch. A storeyband runs across the front of the building.
The interior of No.14A includes an early 19th-century dogleg staircase with turned balusters on both sides and to the landing. On the second floor is a four-panel door with architrave. The first floor has a 19th-century part-glazed door, and the ground floor has a 19th-century glazed door and a four-panel door with keyed architraves. The hall and passage contain 19th-century and later windows and partitions. The cellar has a plank door, stone steps, and lights to a front hatch.
In No.14, the second floor features a four-panel door and a six-panel door with an overlight. The first floor includes a window light, a wall cupboard, and a cornice.
